Ms. Fatmawati Tulawie Salapuddin

Local Researcher for Tausug-Sulu

Ms. Fatmawati Tulawie Salapuddin (Local Researcher for Tausug-Sulu) served as Commissioner of the National Commission on Muslim Filipinos from March 2016 to March 2020 and of the Bangsamoro Transition Commission from April 2013 to February 2016. She served as Director IV of Bureau on Peace and Conflict Resolution – National Commission on Muslim Filipinos (BPCR-NCMF) from August 2011 – March 2013. In this capacity, she was was instrumental in the development of a Module on Peace building and Dialogue; implementation of a Project on Traditional Mediation Practices of Muslim Filipinos with The Asia Foundation; networking and strengthening ties with Civil Society Organizations and the Autonomous Region for Muslim Mindanao – Regional Reconciliation and Unification Commission; facilitation for the resolution of conflicts and issues concerning clan based feuds. 


With exceptional management and leadership skills, Fatsi has years of professional experience working in both civil society organizations and government. She has a profound experiential and theoretical knowledge of the situation in Mindanao particularly in relation to peace, development and human rights.


Fatsi holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from the Mindanao State University, Marawi City, a Masters degree in Public Administration from the Mindanao State University Sulu.
