Dr. Ma. Lourdes Veneracion-Rallonza

Project Director and Proponent

Dr. Ma. Lourdes Veneracion-Rallonza (Project Director and Proponent) is an Associate Professor at the Department of Political Science, Ateneo de Manila University.


As a feminist political scientist, she teaches graduate and undergraduate courses on gender and transitional justice, women’s human rights, women peace and security. For several years, she has handled classes under the Ateneo de Manila University-University for Peace Costa Rica Asian Peacebuilders Scholars Program and the Ateneo Law School-Mahidol University Master in Human Rights and Democratization Program.


Professor Veneracion-Rallonza is currently Project Director of the Weaving Women’s Narratives on Transitional Justice project based at the Department of Political Science, Ateneo de Manila University. She is also the Director of the Gender program of the Asia Pacific Center for the Responsibility to Protect, University of Queensland, Australia and the Vice President of the Philippine Political Science Association (PPSA).


Previously, Professor Veneracion-Rallonza served as Consultant on the National Action Plan on Women, Peace and Security (WPS) for the Office of the Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process (OPAPP) as well as Senior Gender Adviser to the Transitional Justice and Reconciliation Commission (TJRC) for the Bangsamoro. 


On various occasions, she served as consultant, senior/technical expert, and adviser to institutions such as UN Women, ASEAN Intergovernmental Commission on Human Rights (AICHR), Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), Regional Commission on Bangsamoro Women (RCBW), and the Women Engaged in Action on United Nations Security Council Resolution 1325 (WE Act 1325).


Professor Veneracion-Rallonza received her Masters in International Studies and Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of the Philippines, Diliman, Quezon City.
